Missing this little girl

Hay Hay couldn't come over this weekend since I've been sick.  Here are some pictures from a couple of weeks ago when we went to Grandma's house to play.

She may be a girlie girl, but she still likes playing sports.
Dizzy!

Having a blast!

Week 2 COMPLETE

I finished off a hard week of training today with my personal furthest run E-V-E-R.  I ran 7 miles, without stopping or slowing down, in 62 minutes.  Woohoo!  That means I am more than half way to that 13.1 mile goal.  Next Sunday I will be attempting 9 miles.  I've been doing some serious stretching and strengthening of my calves and it is paying off.  Right now I am without serious shin splints or major compartment syndrome issues!  I'm off to eat a huge bagel to recover now:)

Mr. Caterpillar

Painting Mr. Caterpillar's body green.
Hay Hay being careful not to make a big mess.
She decided on red for his head like the Hungry, Hungry, Caterpillar.
Looking good!
Concentrating to get those last details finished.
Ta-Da!
This is how we ended our evening....craftiness on the porch:)  I didn't have all the supplies that I would have liked, but I think we did well with what we had! Hay is quite the artist these days, so this only took us about 15 minutes to make.

Crazy McCrazy

At least this is what Amy called me after I told her I am training for a 1/2 marathon that is now 7 weeks away!  I have to admit that she is probably right.  I wasn't going to blog about this undertaking until I was sure that I could complete it, but it is all about the journey, right?

Here are the details...It is the Park to Park  Half Marathon in Waynesboro, VA on April 30th.  Click here to view the official website.  I'm not sure what possessed me to train for a 13.1 mile run when I have never even attempted a 5k race, have shin splints and compartment syndrome and basically get injured whenever I start training intensely.  However, when I was looking for local events to take Hailey to I stumbled upon this site and then with a little searching I found three different 8-week training guides.

So, here I am now, about to complete my first week of training!  I can not promise that my shins will hold out for another seven weeks, but I am praying that they will.  I am mentally prepared to do this and I'm already motivated by successfully completing and checking off each day of training this week! For the last two and a half months I have been to the gym six days a week working hard to gain muscle and endurance.  However, this new goal has me even more motivated than before!

Amy and I are planning on running a 10k in July, so if all else fails I will at least be able to run this shorter race....which will be no small feat in itself!  Fingers crossed there will be no injuries and I will be well on my way to 13.1 miles in a few short weeks! Pray for me:)
